Historia

Okręg Auxerre został utworzony w 1800 r. Podczas reorganizacji okręgów Yonne w styczniu 2017 r. Otrzymał 13 gmin z okręgu Avallon i stracił trzy gminy na rzecz okręgu Avallon i 12 gmin na rzecz okręgu Sens .

W wyniku reorganizacji kantonów Francji , która weszła w życie w 2015 roku, granice kantonów nie są już powiązane z granicami okręgów. Kantony okręgu Auxerre to od stycznia 2015 r.:
