Historia

Okręg La Roche-sur-Yon został utworzony w 1804 r. Podczas reorganizacji okręgów Wandei w styczniu 2017 r. Otrzymał osiem gmin z okręgu Les Sables-d'Olonne i stracił 11 gmin na rzecz okręgu Fontenay -le-Comte . W styczniu 2019 roku gmina Landeronde przeszła z okręgu Les Sables-d'Olonne do okręgu La Roche-sur-Yon.
