Allobates to rodzaj żab z rodziny Aromobatidae . Pochodzą z Ameryki Środkowej i Południowej, od Nikaragui po Boliwię i Brazylię, z jednym gatunkiem na Martynice .

Opis i ekologia

Gatunki z rodzaju Allobates to głównie małe żaby. Zabarwienie grzbietu jest tajemnicze, z wyjątkiem Allobates femoralis , która ma jasne kolory. Są to głównie żaby lądowe znalezione w ściółce tropikalnych lasów deszczowych. Większość gatunków składa jaja w ściółce; kijanki są transportowane do wody na plecach rodziców. Allobates nidicola i Allobates chalcopis mają jednak endotroficzne kijanki, które rozwijają się w żaby w gnieździe, bez wchodzenia do wody.
